How's that taste? Bitter? Hard to get down?

I'm referring, of course, to my pride. I need to swallow it. And I'm not talking about my lions, the state made me get rid of them MONTHS ago. I mean that thing that makes my head swell up like a finger smashed by a hockey puck.

For the past month, I've been lazing about, telling myself that I want a REAL job, something to get my foot in the door for my first summer out of college. Then, I sat around doing nothing. Well, that ship has sailed. Now I need a job.
I mean, yeah, it was a respectable pursuit, but let's face it: I'll have plenty of time after college to get a job. But summer is running out. I don't even need the money THAT much, I just need to be doing something. I CANNOT laze around this house anymore. When I relax, I want to feel that I deserve it. So, that's it. I'ma get a crappy, dead-end, no-respect college job or two to spend my time. I think maybe my problem was I was intimidated because the two people I talk to the most, Daniel and Leah, ARE out of college, and DO have, or are looking for, respectable jobs. I just thought, why don't I? But there's actually a pretty good reason. I'm not looking for a long-term job, which is really the only respectable job I'm looking for. There's a REASON some people are called "temps". So, yeah. That's my revelation. I'm ready to get a coupla crappy jobs, make some money, and do something with my summer. After I GET the jobs, I can start planning my vacations! Like: Go to Wisconsin, go to Kings Dominion, go camping, go.... away! Anywhere, I dunno! Could this be the summer I get a car? Could be, it's just gettin' started, after all.

Ok, thanks for putting up with that ramble. Now, something we can all enjoy.
Uh.... did you know that eating breath mints until 3 am is NOT the equivelent of brushing your teeth? Eww.

OOH! My blog should do a clip show. You know, re-post some of my best quotes, or even comments! After all, we HAVE decided it's going downhill, so a clip show would be PERFECT! Of course, I'll throw in about 3 original lines between clips, to make it FEEL like a new post, but it won't really be. It'll just be a trick.

Did I already do a "I'm a senior, woooooo." flipout post? Well, just in case...

I'M A SENIOR!!! WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wanna huck some freshmen in the pool... not that they have the luau outside any more. Yeah, THAT makes sense.

I hope you all realize, now, why I waited so long to post. Sitting around here, I have NOTHING to say. Now the questions should be, why DID I post? I guess just to talk about jobs... sometimes I forgot that this is MY blog, not y'all's.

Y'all's.

So, y'know, no whining. Ooh, phone. ...Doot doot doo... Ok, why do so many people have to ask if "Fence Post" is one word or two?! Honestly!!

NO RESULTS FOUND, YOU INCOMPETENT AMERICANS!!!

Minimum length reached. Shutting down. Beeeeeoooooo.......

Well, I'm phasing.

I forgot one.

I was wrong... there is one more way a person can be stressed. That is, in relation to another person, be it worrying about someone or missing them. This differs from the other kinds of stress because, unlike studying for finals, the stressed person has no control over this. The stress stems from what you WANT, not your actions (i.e. I hope he/she is OK, I hope he/she comes home soon, etc.) To be harsh, this is the most useless kind of stress. It does not fuel you to better your life; rather, it bogs you down. It can even lead you to rash decisions(though they may turn out well, if your fears are well grounded). I suppose the only real solution to this is to talk it out with someone. That, and scotch.

There are bound to be disagreements with me on this, which is fine. Everyone has their own way of dealing with stress. I tend to avoid it altogether, at least in great quantities. That's why I'm such a cold, objective observer to it. Maybe I'm wrong in all this, it's hard to say. But it's my take on it, anyway.

I want a new topic... one that won't make me sick.
ONE THAT WON'T MAKE ME CRASH MY CAR, OR MAKE ME FEEL THREE FEET THICK!!!

*cough* Wow. Thanks, Huey, for breaking the ice. Hey, my room's getting cleaned! I've been workin' on it and everything! I even dusted my desk! Can you all believe it?! No, probably not. But I don't care!

I have to go get my Dad, now. Don't stress about it, I'll survive.

Um... hmm... new, cool, sign-out saying.

Hichborn, out!

Oh man... just no.

Until we meet again...

Nope, sorry, Jane Austin just called and threatened to sue if I use that one.

Ok, I'll borrow one from CWOD Gazette until I can think of one for myself.

Be manly!

Words... should've sent... a poet...!

Well, it's done. My trip to Rome is officially a thing of the past. Not just because I'm home, but because I've seen all my family and friends(that live in Virginia, that is) and given them all their souvenirs. There's nothing left for me to do but find a job and settle in to...

The Summer Life.

So now, INSTEAD of finding a job or finishing unpacking, I'm lying in bed, my laptop atop my lap, marveling at the comfort of my bed as compared to those in Italy. I'm ALSO marveling at the speed of the internet 'round here. It's a pretty-pretty nice. What's the next step for me? I don't know... this week will be:
1) Unpacking
2) Cleaning
3) Saying final goodbyes to the people at C-Dom (Graduation is this saturday, I believe)

In the coming weeks, there'll be stuff like job-finding, friend-hang-out-withing, and sip-lemonade-in-the-hammock-I-wish-we-owned.

Ing.

But I'll jump that hurdle when I come to it. That's an attitude I have towards many, many things. Is that bad? It's not like I NEVER plan ahead... I just try not to let stress get to me before I need it. Yes, like it or not, I need stress sometimes. We all do. Stress tells you when you need a vacation, or a re-arranging of priorities, or even a new something(Job, relationship, environment). Not only that, but stress is what makes you get things done. I didn't get stressed out over finals in Rome, and what happened? I studied for 15 minutes for each of them. That CAN'T be good. I'm not saying you should be happy when you ARE stressed, because stress is just a sign of a need for change. If you're stressed about something(like finals) then either A) you haven't studied enough, or B) you need to relax a bit, and hang out with friends or something. Remember, you won't see them for much longer.

Here's where the problem comes in. People can't tell if their stress is telling them to work harder or less hard. This is where the great priority shift comes in. Let me break it down for you.

If you're getting an A- on all your finals, and you're studying an extra hour per day to get rid of that minus, you BADLY need to chill. Honestly, who are you trying to impress? Because it's certainly not working on me.

If you're lying in bed, posting on blogs, and whining that you haven't gotten anything done yet but you're too unmotivated to move, you probably need to work HARDER.

If you're very pregnant, taking 4 english classes, forbidden from drinking alchohol, and easily stress over finals reGARDLESS... *shudder*. Never mind, I can't even IMAGINE someone in that unpleasant a situation.

See what I mean? In a way, stress makes the world go 'round. It's what gives people their identity. That said, it still sucks, and I pity people who put stress on themSELVES when they really don't need it.

...

Hmm.... and so, there's my essay on stress. It may not be in PERFECT Turabian format, but really, you think I'm going to put that kinda stress on myself? ;)

Ciao.

P.S. Ugh... "ciao" was a cooler thing to say before I went to Italy. I need a new "Peace out" thing to say. I'll figure that out later.
